AI Policy for Journal Publication

This policy upholds ethical and responsible AI used in academic publication, ensuring transparency, originality, and accountability throughout the research and submission processes. Authors submitting their manuscripts to the Journal of English Language and Linguistics (JEL) must strictly adhere to the AI policy listed below:

Scope of AI Use in Manuscripts

Authors must explicitly disclose the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in their preparation of a manuscript. This includes AI-assisted writing, data analysis, image generation, and other research-related tasks. All AI-assisted manuscripts must adhere to the journal guidelines regarding academic quality, originality, and ethical integrity.

Ethical Considerations:

Authorship: AI tools must not be credited as an author or co-authors of a manuscript because they lack the capacity for accountability and cannot assume responsibility for research. Human authors must take full responsibility for the content, accuracy, and integrity of his/her manuscript.
Transparency: The authors must include a clear statement in the methods or acknowledgments section detailing the specific role of AI technologies in the research or writing process. Transparency is essential to ensure that readers understand the extent of AI involvement.
Data Integrity: AI-generated data or results must be verifiable. The authors are required to disclose any limitations or potential biases introduced by AI tools. The use of AI must not compromise the integrity, reproducibility, or credibility of research findings.

Plagiarism and Originality

AI tools must not be used to produce content that violates plagiarism standards. The authors are responsible for ensuring that AI-generated or AI-assisted content is original, properly cited, and fully adheres to the journal’s ethical guidelines. Moreover, AI-generated content must not result in unintentional plagiarism or duplication of existing work.

Author Responsibility and Liability

The authors are entirely responsible for any errors, biases, or ethical violations arising from the use of AI tools in their research. While AI technologies may assist in certain tasks, human authors retain full accountability for the final content and compliance with the journal standards.

Rejection of Fully AI-Generated Manuscripts

The journal does not accept manuscripts entirely generated by AI without significant human authorship, oversight, and contribution. Submissions that do not meet these requirements will be rejected.

Scope of the manuscript submission

The journal welcomes manuscripts for publication in the scope covering the following disciplines: English Language, Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, Literature, English for Specific Purposes (ESP), English for Academic Purposes (EAP), English as a Lingua Franca (ELF), Translation and Interpretation, Technology and Language, World Englishes, Language Acquisition, Innovations in Language Teaching and Learning, Language Testing and Assessment, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL), and Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL).

Submission Categories

Journal of English Language and Linguistics (JEL) welcomes the submission of manuscripts in two categories as follows:

Research Article

The research article must be based on the language-related areas specified above in the scope of the journal. The article should be from 3,000 to 8,000 words in length, including figures, tables, and references. An abstract, with one page of A4 or 150 to 250 words, is accompanied by a list of three to five keywords.

Academic Article

The article should provide discussions on all aspects related to the language-related areas specified above in the scope of the journal. It should range from 1,500 to 4,000 words in length, including references. An abstract, with one page of A4 or 150 to 250 words, is accompanied by a list of three to five keywords.

Frequency of Publication

The journal is published in three (3) issues a year: January–April, May–August, and September–December.

ANNOUNCEMENT for Being as Crossref Member and Using Crossref DOI instead of NRCT DOI

Please be informed that Journal of English Language and Linguistics (JEL) is a member of Crossref. With this connection, each article published in JEL will be assigned a Crossref DOI (Digital Object Identifier) number for faster, easier, and more effective citation and indexation instead of National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT). This will be effective from Vol. 5 No. 1 (January-April) 2024 onwards.

JEL’s Publication Workflow (120 days or 4 months)

The publication workflow of the Journal of English Language and Linguistics (JEL) will be used from January 1, 2024, onwards. Based on the workflow, 120 days or 4 months are spent for publication of each issue as in the following timeframes: (1) 30 days for submission processing, (2) 60 days for review processing, and 30 days for copyediting, production, and publication processing.

Publication Frequency and Peer Review Process

From January 1, 2024 onwards, the Journal of English Language and Linguistics (JEL) will increase its publishing frequency from two to three issues a year: January-April, March-June, and July-December. It is noted that all articles will be double-blinded and peer-reviewed by three reviewers from both internal and external institutions.

Article Processing Charge (APC)

An article processing charge (APC) or publication fee must be paid by authors seeking publication in the Journal of English Language and Linguistics (JEL). The following are the article processing charges (APCs):

For general authors, the APC is USD 150.00 per article.

For Buriram Rajabhat University authors, the APC is USD 100.00 per article.

The APCs will cover journal management and the peer-review process. After a preliminary review of the editorial board, the authors must transfer the APCs to:
