Strategies for Developing Competency and Readiness Department of Civil Engineering, International Program at Rajamangala University of Technology

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to study the current status of readiness of faculty members in the Department of Civil Engineering, International Program, Rajamangala University of Technology, and to develop appropriate strategies for enhancing the competencies and readiness of the faculty members in this department. The data collection tools used are: 1) An in - depth interview with faculty members holding a doctoral degree or currently pursuing a doctoral degree at Rajamangala University of Technology, which is the target group, and 2) An assessment of the appropriateness of strategies for developing the competencies and readiness of faculty members in the Department of Civil Engineering, International Program, Rajamangala University of Technology. The research results revealed that the vision of the strategy for developing the competencies and readiness of faculty members in the Department of Civil Engineering, International Program, Rajamangala University of Technology, is: “Rajamangala University of Technology is committed to developing faculty members in the Department of Civil Engineering, International Program, to have high competencies in academic knowledge, research, and teaching skills that meet the needs of international students, while adapting to international educational standards. This will enable the university to produce high - quality graduates who are well - prepared to work in the civil engineering industry at an international level and contribute to the sustainable development of society and the nation. “The strategies for developing the competencies and readiness of faculty members in the Department of Civil Engineering, International Program, Rajamangala University of Technology, include five strategies as follows: 1) Continuous training and development of research skills. 2) Development of teaching skills at the international level. 3) Promotion of English language proficiency. 4) Establishment of collaborative networks with international educational institutions. And 5) Ongoing evaluation and improvement of teaching and learning. These strategies focus on developing faculty members in all key areas, which will enhance their competencies in delivering high - quality education and ensure that they are well - prepared to meet the needs of international students effectively at an international level.
