Use of Constructivism Approach and Extensive Reading enhance English Reading Abilities of Fourth Year Student, Lampang Rajabhat University, Muang District, Lampang Province

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to compare and investigate the English reading ability of fourth-year students before and after learning through the Constructivism Approach and Extensive Reading. The study was conducted with a group of 28 fourth-year students who were enrolled in Introduction to Translation (1553201) at Lampang Rajabhat University, Maung District, Lampang Province, during the second semester of the academic year 2019. The experimental instruments encompassed eight lesson plans incorporating the Constructivism Approach and Extensive Reading. The data gathering instrument consisted of a reading ability test, with the collected data being analyzed for their mean, percentage, and standard deviation.
The research results were as
1. the English reading ability of the students significantly improved from a fair level to a good level after learning through the Constructivism Approach and Extensive Reading.
2. The students were found to have acquired learning skills through the Constructivism Approach and Extensive Reading that could be applied in various real-life situations, promoting lifelong learning.
