Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in Microsoft Word file format.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
Author Guidelines
Author Guidelines for Journal of Language Research and Practice
Submission
Research Articles
Submissions in this category must present findings from empirical studies in language-related fields as outlined in the journal's Aim and Scope. Manuscripts should be between 6,000 and 7,000 words, inclusive of notes, tables, figures, and appendices, or not exceed 15 pages in total. Authors should limit the number of references to a maximum of 25. An abstract of no more than 250 words is required at the beginning of each article.
Academic Articles
Submissions should provide a comprehensive review of a contemporary issue within language-related disciplines and engage in relevant discussions or debates. Manuscripts, including references, should range from 3,000 to 4,000 words. An abstract of approximately 250 words is also required.
Book Reviews
The journal accepts critical reviews of recent publications in the area of language studies. Manuscripts, including references, must not exceed 1,500 words.
Author and Submission Guidelines
Authors must ensure that their submissions adhere to the following criteria. Manuscripts not meeting these requirements may be returned for revision or rejected outright:
1. Submissions must be written in English and saved as Microsoft Word documents (.docx). Authors should format their manuscripts according to the journal's style sheet template.

2. Manuscripts must comply with the formatting standards outlined in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7th Edition).
3. Each submission must include a brief biographical statement (maximum 50 words), the author's email address, and their institutional affiliation.
4. Manuscripts must be original works and not previously published or under consideration for publication elsewhere.
5. All submissions will undergo a plagiarism screening process.
6. Manuscripts must be thoroughly edited and proofread for language accuracy, ensuring compliance with standard academic English.
7. Authors are required to submit two versions of their manuscript: a complete version with author details and an anonymized version for peer review.
8. The journal retains the right to make editorial adjustments for clarity or style. Substantial changes will be communicated to the author, and their input may be sought.
Publication Ethics
The Journal of Language Research and Practice follows these ethical standards in its publication process.
Publication Ethics
1. Articles, content, images, and tables published in the journal represent the opinions of the authors and do not necessarily reflect those of the editorial board. The authors are solely responsible for their content.
2. If readers identify content suspected of plagiarism or misrepresentation of authorship without proper citation, please notify the editorial board immediately.
3. Articles from research involving human and animal subjects will only be considered if they have received approval from the appropriate ethics review committee.
4. Articles published in the journal must pass a quality review by at least two peer reviewers from relevant fields, both internal and external to the university, from a pool of three reviewers.
5. Peer reviewers and authors remain anonymous to each other (Double-Blind Peer Review).
6. Submitted articles will not be returned to the authors.
The Editors
1. Editors are responsible for evaluating and selecting high-quality articles for publication after they have undergone the review process, considering aspects such as originality, clarity, importance, comprehensiveness, and alignment with the journal's policies. Editors must ensure articles meet international standards for publication.
2. Editors must rigorously check submitted articles for plagiarism using credible software and immediately halt the review process and contact the lead author if plagiarism is detected, to seek an explanation before accepting or rejecting the work.
3. The editor is responsible for maintaining a thorough and timely double-blind peer review process, involving three reviewers for each submitted article.
4. Editors must not disclose any information regarding the submitted articles to unauthorized individuals during the review process, including details about authors and reviewers.
5. Editors must avoid conflicts of interest with authors, reviewers, and management teams, both within their organization and externally.
6. Editors must not reject articles based on suspicion or uncertainty without first gathering relevant academic evidence to support such suspicions.
7. Editors must reject articles that have been previously published elsewhere, including full-text papers from conference proceedings.
The Reviewers
1. Reviewers should recommend or highlight significant and relevant works that the author may not have cited during their review process.
2. Reviewers are expected to offer unbiased and constructive feedback on the manuscript to the editor within an appropriate timeframe.
3. Reviewers must not have any conflicts of interest with authors, such as collaborating on the research, personal relationships, or any other situation that could compromise their impartiality. Reviewers should notify the editors if such conflicts exist and decline to review the article.
4. Reviewers must maintain confidentiality and not disclose any part of the article or its contents to unrelated parties throughout the review process.
5. Reviewers have a duty to alert the editor if they identify any suspected misconduct, such as data falsification or fabrication, or if any portion of the manuscript resembles or substantially duplicates previously published or submitted content, and must provide supporting evidence for such claims.
6. Reviewers should assess articles within their area of expertise, evaluating their significance, originality, and relevance to the field. Personal opinions unsupported by academic evidence should not influence their recommendations.
The Authors
1. All listed authors must have genuinely contributed to the research process and must disclose any funding sources that supported the research in the acknowledgments, if applicable.
2. Authors must format articles according to the journal’s submission guidelines.
3. Authors must provide proper citations for any external work referenced, and ensure such references appear both in the text and the list of references at the end of the article, adhering to the journal’s specified format.
4. Authors submitting articles for review must certify that the work is original, has not been previously published, and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere (authors must sign a declaration form upon submission).
5. Authors must present factual and accurate data derived from their research, without fabrication or distortion, and disclose any conflicts of interest, if applicable.
