Publication Ethics for Journal Articles
The Journal of Social Studies Teaching Faculty of Education is committed to upholding the highest ethical standards in academic publishing to ensure the quality, credibility, and transparency of its published content. The Journal places great importance on maintaining ethical standards in the publication process. Therefore, all parties involved are required to adhere to the following principles and standards of publication ethics:
1. Roles and Responsibilities of the Editor and Editorial Board
1.1 The Editor and Editorial Board are responsible for reviewing and scrutinizing all submitted manuscripts for publication consideration. This includes assessing the manuscript's alignment with the Journal's aims and scope, as well as evaluating its quality during the pre-publication peer review process.
1.2 Decisions regarding manuscripts must be based primarily on academic merit and scholarly rationale, without any bias towards the authors or the content under review.
1.3 The Editor and Editorial Board must not have any conflicts of interest with the authors or reviewers, whether for commercial gain or for using the work as their own academic output.
1.4 They must not obstruct, alter, or interfere with the communication and exchange of information between the reviewers and the authors.
1.5 They must strictly adhere to all the Journal's established processes and procedures.
2. Roles and Responsibilities of the Author
2.1 Manuscripts submitted for publication must be original works that have not been previously published or submitted elsewhere for consideration.
2.2 Authors must properly cite all sources when presenting or referencing the work of others within their manuscript, and must ensure that their work is free from plagiarism.
2.3 If the research involves human subjects, animals, or volunteers, or if the research findings contain sensitive issues concerning the informants, the authors must strictly adhere to ethical principles, relevant laws, and regulations. This includes obtaining informed consent prior to data collection and providing all necessary ethical clearance documentation, such as certification from the Institutional Review Board (IRB) or the relevant ethics committee for human or animal research.
2.4 Authors must agree to transfer the copyright to the Journal prior to publication. After publication in the Journal of Social Studies Education, Faculty of Education, the work must not be published or disseminated in any other venue.
2.5 All individuals listed as authors must have made a substantial intellectual contribution to the manuscript.
3. Roles and Responsibilities of the Reviewer (Peer Reviewer)
3.1 Reviewers must not have any conflicts of interest with the authors. The evaluation of the manuscript's quality must be based primarily on its academic merit and scholarly rationale, free from personal bias or conflict.
3.2 Reviewers must ensure that they possess the necessary expertise and knowledge to genuinely understand the content of the manuscript they are evaluating.
3.3 Reviewers must not seek to gain any advantage or benefit from the manuscript they are evaluating.
3.4 If a reviewer discovers that the manuscript under review contains plagiarism or duplication of other works, they must immediately inform the Editor and provide clear supporting evidence.
3.5 Reviewers must adhere to the Journal's specified timeline for the review process and must maintain the confidentiality of the manuscript's information, not disclosing it to any unauthorized third party.
