Public participation in environmental development of Ban Kok community, Village No. 7, Ban Ped Subdistrict, Mueang District, Khon Kaen Province

Abstract

This research aims to study participation, participation problems and ways to promote public participation in environmental development, Ban Kok Community, Village No. 7, Ban Ped Subdistrict, Mueang District, Khon Kaen Province. This study is qualitative research. There were 29 key informants in total. The tools used to collect data were semi-structured interviews. and analyzed the data descriptively. The results of the study found that 1) People's participation in environmental development in the Ban Kok community found that people participated in decision-making by expressing their opinions in activities or joining the community with the village. and have participated by starting with finding problems, analyzing the causes of problems, and various approaches that may be used to solve problems. 2) Problems of public participation in environmental development. Ban Kok community found that the sub-district's public relations news was not thorough, and decision-making roles in various activities mostly belonged to people aged 40-60 years rather than youth. This is because this group of people has a greater role in participating in community development activities. 3) Guidelines for promoting public participation in environmental development in the Ban Kok community. It was found that (1) people should hold community meetings, discuss with each other to know the problems and needs of the people (2) there should be public relations, tell news about planning or create various projects and activities, and (3) the budget should be increased to be sufficient to carry out various operations or activities.
