The Development of Learning Achievement on Foreign Loanwords in Thai Learning Using STAD Technique for Grade 8 Students at Nakhon Phanom Wittayakom School

Abstract

Research Objectives This study aimed to: 1) investigate the effectiveness of teaching content on Foreign Loanwords in Thai using the Student Teams-Achievement Divisions (STAD) technique for Grade 8 students; 2) investigate the effectiveness of STAD-based learning in developing knowledge of Foreign Loanwords in Thai for Grade 8 students; and 3) investigate the level of student satisfaction with STAD-based learning on Foreign Loanwords in Thai. The sample group for this research consisted of 36 Grade 8 students from Class 11 at Nakhon Phanom Wittayakhom School. They were selected using cluster random sampling, with the school as the sampling unit. The research tools used were: 1) five lesson plans using the STAD technique on Foreign Loanwords in Thai, each plan lasting one hour, totaling five hours; 2) pre- and post-tests on Foreign Loanwords in Thai; and 3) a student satisfaction survey regarding the STAD technique-based learning of foreign-language words in Thai.

The results showed that. The STAD learning management technique for developing academic achievement in terms of loanwords in Thai for grade 8 students was 82.4/86.3 effective. Furthermore, the students' knowledge of loanwords in Thai after the learning management was significantly higher than before the management at the 0.05 statistical significance level; and 3) The students' overall satisfaction with the STAD teaching technique on loanwords in Thai was at a high level.
