Crisis and Opportunities of Hotel Business Arising after the COVID-19 Situation

Abstract

The impact of the COVID-19 epidemic has affected a wide range of businesses, including the hotel business that has been hit hard. The business model has been adjusted to create new opportunities such as opportunities to reach new customers, opportunities to adjust the new business model from the Work From Home, opportunities for hotel development to become more Hotel 4.0 compliant with New Normal, whether the system of Check In and Check Out via application or kiosk, reducing the use of cash. Including opportunities in the Wellness Industry because in the future, the general health care trend will be more conscious of health and careful in living. In this regard to educational institutions that open Hotel and Hospitality Course should be some adjustment as well due to the situation causing the students and their parents to be insecure about the job position that they can support after graduation. Therefore, the curriculum should be adjusted to be in line with future tourism trend by improved skills “cross-industry” but still in the service industry that are connected to each other such as skills that can work in the health sector caring for the elderly, healthy food and beverage course design and skills in using digital technology.
