Administration in Accordance with the New Public Management Approach of the Wang Chan Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Kaeng Krachan District, Phetchaburi Province

Abstract

The objectives of this research were (1) to assess the level of administrative management based on the New Public Management (NPM) approach of Wang Chan Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Kaeng Krachan District, Phetchaburi Province; (2) to compare administrative management based on the NPM approach according to personal factors; and (3) to test the relationship between POCCC based-management and administrative management based on the NPM approach of Wang Chan Subdistrict Administrative Organization. This quantitative research method was employed. The sample consisted of 380 residents living within the Wang Chan Subdistrict Administrative Organization. Data were collected using a questionnaire. The statistical methods used for data analysis included frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), and Pearson’s product–moment correlation coefficient. Major findings: (1) the overall level of administrative management based on the New Public Management approach was at a high level; (2) when comparing administrative management based on the NPM approach according to personal characteristics, it was found that respondents with different genders, educational levels, marital statuses, and lengths of residence did not differ significantly in their opinions toward administrative management based on the NPM approach, whereas respondents with different ages, occupations, monthly incomes, and residential areas showed statistically significant differences in their opinions; and (3) there was a low positive correlation between POCCC based-management and administrative management based on the New Public Management approach of Wang Chan Subdistrict Administrative Organization.
