Development of a Geoinformatics Innovation Learning Ecosystem for Community Development Based on Spatial Problems for Youth in Kamphaeng Phet Province
Main Article Content
Abstract
The objectives of this research were: 1) to develop geoinformatics application knowledge for community development based on spatial characteristics in Kamphaeng Phet Province; 2) to develop a network of youth geoinformatics innovation users; 3) to establish a geoinformatics innovation learning ecosystem; and 4) to support and drive small-scale geoinformatics application projects from youth networks to local administrative organizations. The target group consisted of 255 high school students from educational institutions in Kamphaeng Phet Province, selected based on disaster risk contexts and community potential. Research instruments included geoinformatics analysis knowledge sets and curricula, a Learning and Innovation Platform (LIP), geoinformatics software, relevant GIS databases, and learning and satisfaction assessment scales. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, while qualitative data were analyzed through content analysis combined with data triangulation.
The results of the study revealed that:
- The knowledge development encompassed five key areas: Recreation Opportunity Spectrum (ROS) assessment, analysis of MODIS and Suomi NPP (VIIRS) satellite hotspots, forest fire risk area analysis, and agricultural open burning risk area analysis.
- A total of 255 youth in the network were developed, comprising 153 students from Khlong Lan Phatthana Chindasak School and 102 students from Watchara Wittaya School. These participants demonstrated significant progress in utilizing geoinformatics tools, conducting spatial data analysis, and producing tangible outputs.
- The development of the learning ecosystem led to the establishment of the Geoinformatics Innovation Learning Center for Community Development, an online platform designed to promote participatory learning.
- Six small-scale projects were successfully supported and implemented, with results transferred and disseminated to Khlong Lan Phatthana Subdistrict Municipality and Kamphaeng Phet Town Municipality. Participants expressed the highest level of satisfaction with the process.
Furthermore, the research findings contributed to the synthesis of a Geoinformatics Innovation Learning Ecosystem Model. This model integrates knowledge, technology, and youth participation to address spatial issues at the community level, serving as a prototype for youth development and spatial problem management in other contexts.
