Abstract

This article examines the integration of green space design and artistic intervention as an innovative approach to promoting well-being in urban environments. Contemporary research has consistently shown that urban green spaces contribute positively to physical and mental health by supporting stress reduction, encouraging physical activity, strengthening social cohesion, and mitigating exposure to excessive urban heat. In parallel, public art and creative spatial design have increasingly been recognized as important mechanisms for enriching place identity, emotional engagement, and meaningful interaction between people and their environments.

The article proposes that the convergence of landscape architecture, environmental design, and artistic practice can generate “creative green spaces” that function not only as ecological infrastructure but also as cultural and therapeutic public spaces. Such spaces may take the form of art gardens, learning gardens, creative parks, or green corridors enriched with sculptures, interactive installations, murals, sensory elements, and community-based art activities. These design strategies can enhance users’ aesthetic experience, deepen emotional attachment to place, and improve the inclusiveness and vitality of urban public space. In this sense, art is not treated merely as decoration, but as an active design element that mediates perception, stimulates participation, and expands the restorative potential of green environments. This interdisciplinary framework reflects the direction of innovation in art and design by linking environmental functionality with creative expression, social value, and human-centered experience. Therefore, the integration of art into urban green space design offers a significant conceptual and practical model for developing healthier, more resilient, and culturally meaningful cities in the future .
