Abstract

This research aims to examine (1) the saving and borrowing behaviors of cooperative members and (2) the relationship between personnel work characteristics and the saving and borrowing behaviors of these cooperative members. Utilizing a quantitative research method, data were collected through questionnaires administered to 260 members of the Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University Savings Cooperative Limited, selected via simple random sampling. The data analysis employed descriptive statistics, including frequency and percentage, as well as inferential statistics, specifically the Chi-square test. The findings revealed that all members of the cooperative were classified as ordinary members, constituting 100% of the sample. The majority of members were aged between 31 and 40 years, comprising 38.10%. Most members were married, accounting for 75.40%. Additionally, a significant portion of the membership consisted of university employees, with 74 individuals representing 28.50%, followed by civil servants at 54 individuals or 20.80%. Regarding saving behaviors, members tended to save substantial amounts in the form of deposits, with annual savings typically less than 12,000 baht. Nevertheless, members accumulated shares exceeding 38.50%, with many holding monthly share values between 1,001 and 2,000 baht. Moreover, the study found a significant relationship between the work characteristics of personnel and members' deposits in stock accumulation, special savings deposits, and retirement savings deposits, all at a statistical significance level of 0.05. Similarly, the work characteristics of personnel were significantly associated with members' borrowing behaviors in general loan categories, loans for quality of life development, and housing loans, also at a significance level of 0.05..
