The Effectiveness in Performance of the Commission of Overseeing and Following-up Police Administration at Saimai Police Station, Bangkok Metropolis

Abstract

           The purposes of this study were to 1 ) investigate the effectiveness in the performance of the Commission of Overseeing
and Following-up Police Administration at Saimai Police Station, Bangkok Metropolis, 2 ) explore the relationship between the
public’s participation and the effectiveness in the performance of the Commission of Overseeing and Following-up Police
Administration, and 3 ) provide suggestions on enhancing the effectiveness in performance of the Commission of Overseeing and
Following-up Police Administration. The samples of 328 residents were selected through a simple random sampling technique in the
Saimai Police Station area. Questionnaires and interviews were used to collect data. To analyze the data, descriptive statistics include
percentage, mean, and standard deviation.

          The results revealed that the overall effectiveness in performance of the Commission of Overseeing and Following-up
Police Administration at Saimai Police Station was found at a high level. There was a relationship between the public’s participation
and the effectiveness in performance of the Commission of Overseeing and Following-up Police Administration at statistically
different level.05. In addition, the suggestion on enhancing the effectiveness in performance of the Commission of Overseeing and
Following-up Police Administration were as follows: 1) In terms of efficiency in budget management, the budget allocation should be
maximized; 2) In terms of transparency, the public should be able to monitor and oversee the resource management including
procurement of materials, communicative devices and arms and ammunition; 3) In terms of participation, the community should fully participate in planning, taking charge and decision making in the public affairs.
