Abstract

Abstract

This research aimed to (1) study the operational model of the Ban Lamduan Silk Community Enterprise in Lamduan Subdistrict, Krasang District, Buriram Province; (2) analyze the success of the community enterprise in the economic, social, and cultural dimensions; and (3) examine the factors influencing the success of its operations as a grassroots economic organization. This study employed qualitative research methods. Twenty key informants were purposively selected, including the group leader, executive committee members, group members, and relevant government officials. The tools used for data collection included semi-structured interviews, participant observation, and analysis of related documents. Data were analyzed using content analysis, and data reliability was verified through triangulation from multiple sources.

The research results revealed that: 1) The Ban Lamduan Silk Community Enterprise has a management model consistent with the POSDC framework, including Planning, which clearly defines production and marketing goals; Organizing, which assigns responsibilities according to expertise; Staffing, which focuses on skill development and knowledge transfer; Directing, which emphasizes leadership and motivation; and Controlling, which prioritizes product quality standards. 2) The enterprise’s success appears in three main dimensions. Economically, members earn both supplementary and primary income, creating financial circulation within the community and reducing labor migration. Socially, cooperation, unity, and a sense of shared ownership among members are strengthened. Culturally, the enterprise helps preserve and transmit traditional silk-weaving knowledge while developing products that align with market demands. 3) Factors contributing to this success include strong leadership, member participation, systematic management, and support from external agencies, which are key components in achieving sustainable grassroots economic development.
