Abstract

The book “Governance and Corruption Control” is a scholarly work that systematically integrates political science, public administration, and institutional economics into a unified analytical framework. The book seeks to explain the phenomenon of corruption as a product of flawed institutional structures, while simultaneously presenting strategies for strengthening good governance across multiple sectors at both the policy and operational levels.

A notable strength of this book lies in its ability to bridge universal theories with the Thai social context, particularly in its analysis of patronage culture and the historical dimensions that have long entrenched corruption within Thai society. Nevertheless, this review identifies several areas that warrant further development, namely the deepening of moral and ethical dimensions — an internal, character-based approach to corruption control that operates from within the human conscience.

This article evaluates the book across three dimensions: academic excellence, alignment with Thai public policy, and utility for students and practitioners in the field. It concludes with recommendations for future editions.
