A A study of factors affecting public participation in the operations of Prathatbu Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Prasat District, Surin Province.

Abstract

This research aims to 1) study the level of public participation in the operations of the Prathatbu Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Prasat District, Surin Province; 2) study the factors affecting public participation in the operations of the Prathatbu Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Prasat District, Surin Province; and 3) study policy recommendations regarding public participation in the administration of the Prathatbu Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Prasat District, Surin Province, categorized by gender, age, education level, occupation, and income. The study examined four aspects: participation in decision-making, participation in operations, participation in receiving benefits, and participation in evaluation. The sample size was 347 people, calculated using stratified proportional representation with villages as the criterion. The research instrument was a questionnaire consisting of three types of questions: checklist questions, a 5-level rating scale, and open-ended questions.

              The research findings showed that the factors affecting public participation in the operations of the Prathatbu Subdistrict Administrative Organization were, overall, at a high level in all aspects, ranked from highest to lowest value. A comparison of the factors affecting public participation in the operations of the Prathatbu Subdistrict Administrative Organization, categorized by demographic characteristics—gender, age, education level, occupation, and income—was also presented, both overall and by aspect. Similarly, suggestions from interviews with residents of Prathatbu Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Prasat District, Surin Province, indicate a need for increased transparency and accountability, improved quality of life, and the establishment of an open and diverse evaluation system.
