Abstract

This research aimed to develop science activity packages designed to enhance innovative thinking skills through a project-based learning approach on the topic of Substances and Their Properties. The objective was to achieve the efficiency criteria of E1/E2 at 80/80 and to investigate the innovative thinking skills and learning satisfaction of grade 7 students. The sample group consisted of 48 grade 7 students enrolled in the second semester of the 2024 academic year. The participants were selected through cluster random sampling. The research employed a one-group posttest-only design. The research instruments included: (1) seven science activity packages designed to promote innovative thinking skills through project-based learning on the topic of Substances and Their Properties; (2) a 12-item innovative thinking skills assessment form using a four-point rating scale; (3) a 30-item four-choice multiple-choice achievement test on Substances and Their Properties; and (4) a student satisfaction questionnaire using a five-point rating scale. Data were analyzed using arithmetic mean, percentage, and standard deviation.  The results revealed that the developed science activity packages achieved the established effectiveness criterion (E1/E2 = 88.09/91.80). Students' innovative thinking skills showed a progressive improvement throughout the learning process and were rated very highly overall (83.35%). When analyzed by components, all aspects of innovative thinking skills were also at a very high level (80.56%–86.54%). In addition, students' satisfaction with the learning activities was rated at the highest level (  = 4.89).
