A Study of Ability in Solving Mathematics Problems about Decimal Number of Elementary Schooling Grade 6 Students Trirattanaphirak School by Using Polya Method with STAD Technique

Abstract

The objective of this research was to study the ability in solving mathematics problems about decimal number after learning management by using Polya method with STAD technique. The research samples were 22 elementary schooling grade 6/2 students of Trirattanaphirak School Bangkok of the first semester in 2022 academic chosen by cluster random sampling. There were many important reasons these supported for choosing the students of this class as the sample. For example, the students concentrated on studying in the class while the teacher was teaching, they were also observant and were dare to ask the teacher for the questions or word problems those they had not understood yet and were willing to explain the method or how to find the solution of each question or word problem to their friends in the group or in the class by the students who were skillful computation in solving were the representations. The research instruments were 1) 4 plans of the decimal number of learning management plan by using Polya method with STAD technique and 2) mathematics ability in solving problems test about decimal number. The statistics used to analyze data were average, percentage and standard deviation.
The result showed that the ability in solving mathematics problems about decimal number by using Polya method with STAD technique after learning had the average equaling 30.09 and had standard deviation equaling 8.57. The average was 75.23 percent.
