Research and Publication Misconduct
JCBE takes allegations of research and publication misconduct seriously.
Misconduct may include, but is not limited to:
- plagiarism or self-plagiarism;
- fabrication or falsification of data;
- inappropriate authorship;
- duplicate or redundant publication;
- citation manipulation;
- peer-review manipulation;
- undisclosed conflicts of interest;
- unethical research practices; and
- inappropriate manipulation of data, images, or figures.
When a concern is raised, the Editor will conduct an appropriate assessment and may request explanations, original data, ethics documentation, or other supporting evidence.
Where necessary, the Journal may contact the author's institution or another appropriate authority.
Depending on the findings, the Journal may reject the manuscript, suspend the editorial process, require a correction, publish an expression of concern, retract a published article, or take other appropriate action.
